BattleStations Facebook Game Review

Battle Stations MMORPG Facebook Game

Man your ship, and be ready to soar the clouds! BattleStations is about flying ships and exploring multiple islands, battling with monsters and other captains. The story basically tells that some sort of calamity happened and left the world a mess. Islands are floating in the sky (which explains why you pilot air ships) and five kingdoms have risen to power which are The Alexin Imperium, Al-Amraan Caliphate, Jade Archipelago, Corxas Cartel, and Aeros: The Floating city.

BattleStations Facebook has a nice User Interface, all images are of high quality. Probably the highest quality images I've seen on any facebook game so far. Shows an animated image of the ship and moving clouds when you're in the bridge. Pictures of your crew are also shown on some nice 2D avatar. When you change weapons, new animations are also shown during battle, you can get really look badass here.

I don't think I've heard any music in BattleStations. The sounds effects were mostly canons, booms and gun fires. They're enough to tell you what's going on though...

The controls were very simple, just use your mouse, point and click. Facebook Games like BattleStations doesn't really suffer from any problem with regards to controls. Although sometimes I find the GUI a little too tall when I use a smaller screen and I have to scroll down just to be able to see what I need to click.

In BattleStations, you can assign your crew (which are actually your facebook friends' characters) to manage the ship such as your first mate, your pilot, gunner and technician. Your typical routine would be to explore, hunt for monsters or hunt for treasures. Be weary when exploring because you can still be attacked by monsters or lose HP when your ship hit or caught up in something like a rock or a bad weather.

When you explore, a log of everything that happens such as the condition of the sky, items you find, people you meet are displayed in the exploring log. With enough exploring and fighting monsters you can unlock discoveries which are places you have to explore to unlock a boss.

The battle system is great but you don't really have any control over anything during the fight. It's all about preparation when it comes to BattleStations. After a fight, you can choose to replay the fight scene, save replay which generates a URL,  or export replay which creates an embeddable flash HTML code. You may also skip combat and go straight to the outcome of the battle if you like...

You can go to the inn and chat with other users, talk to the bartenders and flirt around. You can also shop for parts or weapons and equip them in your hangar. You can equip weapons depending on the number of slots you have. The default number of weapon slots are 2. You can increase your slots when you upgrade your ship.

The basic attributes that you can see in your hangar are:

Weapon Slots - Increases your speed
Figured head -  Not sure what this is for
Body Kit -  Changes the appearance of your ship
Hull - Increases your hull points
Sails - Increases your speed
Engine - Increases your speed
Stabilizers - Changes your speed

Once you've reached a certain amount of level (I was in level 11 before I noticed), you can select a specialized job class. Job classes come in the list of soldier, pirate, mechanic, and scout. These would meet the criteria your friends assign you to when they make you as part of their crew. Each job class has their unique skills and stats and have different areas of strength. For example, a soldier can be good in firing missiles and sub canons and a mechanic can make your ship move very fast. You can reset your character class or re-allocate stat points.

Battle Stations Level Up

BattleStations is also successful in incorporating RPG elements such as alchemy, mining and building your own island... You wouldn't be disappointed to know that PvP or Person vs Person mode is also available as well as joining a clan.

There is certainly a lot more to say about this game that I could no longer cover in this review.  n the final note, when your ship gets destroyed you will need to salvage it for repair. Repair costs certain amount of AP, I think it was around 8AP). More AP and Ocho coins (for more special features) can be purchased at the BattleStations Ocho shop.

BattleStations Assign Crew

I'm really having fun playing this game and so far the best Facebook game with the most addictive gameplay I've ever played.

Absolutely entertaining! A little learning curve but I was able to get it in under 15 minutes. Possibly the best and most engaging facebook game I've played so far! The game isn't very difficult, I think if I compare to Ninja Saga which I also like... This is one is a little less frustrating but is more rewarding! I HIGHLY RECOMMEND playing this game!
